I would climb a fence with barbed wire for a Titleist Pro V1x

I started playing golf when I was 15 years old. By the time I was 18 I was working in a pro shop as an assistant pro which I did for a number of years. My hope was to join the PGA tour someday. I had a great game and had a lot of potential. For many years I often hit between 500 and 1000 balls a day during my practice sessions...so I know what a good golf ball is. A wrist injury put an end to my hopes, but I continued playing because of my love for the game. I got my amateur status back in 1986 but never pursued the game with the gusto I had prior to my injury.
I actually quit playing for over a decade.
In 2000 I moved to Mexico to retire and in 2002 I took up the game again. After about a year I got my handicap down to a 10 on one of the toughest golf courses anywhere. One day a golfing buddy gave me a tube of the new Pro V1x's because he felt I would like to try them out.
Boy, he had that right! The pro V1x was an instant with me! It added about 15 yards to my drives! My control with my irons improved and within a couple of months, my handicap was down to a 6! Our course was at a high altitude (6500 feet) so I already hit the ball along way, (close to 300 yards on a good drive). With the Pro V1x I was now pounding out drives way over 300 yards on a regular basis. Several times I actually had drives measuring over 400 yards! In all my 48 years in golf I have never had a ball I could trust like my Pro V1x's!
The problem was...in Mexico, at the time, it was very difficult to find any quality equipment and balls were no exception! The only way I could get anymore of them would be to by them in the USA during the occasional trip my wife and I made back to Arizona to visit family.
I was in love those 3 Pro V1x's and refused to play anything else as it felt like a handicap to play with another ball!
I've been known to hit the occasional errant tee shot and my golfing buddies took to really ribbing me whenever I hit a shot into the rough because they knew they wouldn't see me again until I found my precious Pro V1x! We had a lot of hazards, trees and long grass on our course and I must say, they were very patient and understanding about me obsession of finding my ball. So, even though I played 3 or 4 times a week, it was several months before I was down to my last Pro V1x. I was getting good at climbing fences by this time and risking life and limb when my errant shot would wind up in a yard with an unfriendly dog!
Sure enough, the day finally came when I hit a tee shot that was a bit too far left to find even with the help of my foursome and their caddies! Eight of us searched for way longer than the USGA rule of five minutes, but to no avail!
I was Pro V1x-less! I was heartbroken!
I began asking for 2 shots a side from my opponents...but their sympathy had ended with the search for my last Pro V1x!
Needless to say, on my next trip to the states I stocked up on those precious Titleist Pro V1x balls.
Since that time I always carry a dozen of them in reserve at all times!
I trust the Pro V1x...it's the best golf ball ever made!
