“It’s a great feeling, something you wish could happen more often, but when they come your way you have to cherish them and enjoy it.”
This is what Titleist golf ball loyalist Nathan Lashley (Pro V1x) had to saying about winning on tour, moments after he prevailed on the second hole of a four-man playoff to capture his first PGA Tour LatinoAmerica victory at the San Luis Championship.
In the final round at La Loma Golf in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Lashley fired a final-round 2-under-par 70, joining the leaders after regulation play at 7-under-par 281. Lashley made back-to-back birdies on the 18th hole in the extra session to outlast his fellow playoff competitors and enter the winner’s circle.
“It’s huge,” said Lashley, who played his college golf at the University of Arizona. “If you can get inside the top-5 you have a big leg up, because you know you’ll have a place to play next year.”
Lashley currently sits at No. 7 on the earnings list with eight events remaining on the PGA Tour LatinoAmerica schedule.
At season’s end, the top five players in the tour's Order of Merit standings earn status on the Web.com Tour, with the money leader being fully exempt.
