PGA TOUR | Zurich Classic
Titleist Brand Ambassador Patrick Cantlay and his regular Ryder Cup/Presidents Cup partner, the reigning Olympic champion, opened with a best-ball 59 on their way to a record-setting, wire-to-wire victory in New Orleans.
- The first victors to lead the event from start-to-finish, the duo broke the tournament scoring record, finishing the four rounds (two best ball, two alternate shot) at 29 under par, two strokes clear of Billy Horschel (Pro V1) and his teammate.
- Cantlay, the defending FedExCup champion and PGA Tour Player of the Year, now has seven-career PGA TOUR victories.
- Since the beginning of last season, no one has more wins than Cantlay (5).
TEAM CHAMPS TRUST VOKEY WEDGES
- The Zurich Classic champions had a total of six Vokey Design wedges in their bags.
- Cantlay carries four (see details below) while his partner plays two (Vokey Design 56.10S, WedgeWorks 60.06K).
- The Olympic champion plays the same Low Bounce K model as the 2022 Masters champion.
- It was at the 2021 Tour Championship where the current World No. 1 asked Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill to make him one, having tried the Olympic champ’s 60.06K while in the short game area at East Lake Golf Club.
- “He (current World No. 1) hit it and loved it from the start,” Dill said. “He tried it in the bunker, from the rough, and tight cut Bermuda. He described the sole as forgiving and fast. He said it felt forgiving and at the same time gave him confidence to hit all the shots he wanted. He asked me to build one and it went right in play that week.”
- The K grind is among the most popular of all the available Vokey options, especially with amateur golfers who favor its wide, cambered sole, providing maximum forgiveness on greenside shots and out of the bunker.

PGA OF AMERICA | PGA Professional National Championship
Jesse Mueller, playing a Titleist Pro V1x golf ball, chipped his way to a five-shot victory at the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa to qualify for his first PGA Championship.
- Mueller, 39, PGA General Manager of Grand Canyon University Golf Course in Phoenix, led a group of 20 PGA professionals who will compete next month in the season’s second men’s major at Southern Hills.
- “I had another chip-in today,” said Mueller, who holed out for birdie on the 10th hole of his final round, “but my chipping the first three days was as good as it could be. I chipped in three times on the week and I was getting up and down all over the place.”
- Muller, who has previously played in one major championship (2012 U.S. Open), was the only player to finish the week in double digits at 10 under, after opening with rounds with 66-67-66.
- Of the 20 players who will be heading to the PGA Championship, 13 of them had at least one piece of Titleist equipment in their bag.
- That includes Titleist Staff Member Alex Beach of Westchester Country Club (Harrison, N.Y.), who qualified for his fifth-consecutive PGA Championship after chipping in for birdie on the first hole of a 4-for-3 playoff.
JESSE MUELLER ON HIS PRO V1x
“I’ve played it forever and I’m just very comfortable with it. I’m comfortable with the flight in the wind, especially this week, how there’s so much wind out there today and I can hit the ball not pretty much my full shot and go straight through the wind. That’s something that it’d be hard for me ever to change. I’m really comfortable with the ball, playing in the wind, how it controls, trajectory.”
