Team Titleist I need some help.
I just had a fitting for a new driver and 3 wood. And as usual the fitter didnt have enough shafts for me to try. This sucks. How am I suppose to know what shaft works the best if they don't have enough shafts for me to try?
My driver speed is rather quick 117-123mph. My current driver is a Titleist 909 d2 9.5 and has a custom graphite design ysq tour 65 x stiff and tipped shaft. However this combo doesn't work as my spin rate is way to high ( 48000plus)
So what do I do?
I am keen to upgrade to a 910 (or something else if it works) but what shaft/combo would get my spin rate down?
Interesting to note that during the fitting we found out that the 10.5 degree driver worked better than the 9.5 as it got the ball higher. My launch angle with the 10.5degree was better than the 9.5. So at least we know that I need a 10.5 degree driver
To note. This fitting was done through a local pro and TM. So they fitted me with a TM R11s 10.5 driver with a fujikura blur 65 x stiff shaft. This set up seemed to work the best (spin rate at best upper 2800's) but still sometimes a litle high mid 3500's.. I did Try a heavier shaft (85 gram motore x stiff) but it didn't go and feel well.
Side note r11s 3wood swing speed was 115mph and went well.
I am keen to keep the weight of the driver shaft down and am thinking something along the lines of a pro force v2 65 gram x stiff.
I am frustrated that when I get fitted (by Titleist in past also) that no one has a good amount of x stiff shafts for me to try. I need something that will keep the spin rate down. I don't want to spend lots of money getting a custom fit driver and shaft and end up with the wrong one. Especially when I haven't even tried heaps of shafts and changes to get the best results.
I am from New Zealand so any help (especially from Titleist) in getting me the best shaft for the best driver (Titleist) would be great.
