What is the most important part of the ball fitting process? Feel or performance? In my opinion, the performance with the driver will always overrule the feel with the short clubs. My launch conditions are perfect with the ProV1 X and my 910D3 but the irons could use a little more spin. In my last fitting I was told the irons were a little low on spin. Any thoughts.

Performance is the goal of the game isn't it ?   Driver performance is on 14 shots in a round.   Getting the ball closer to the hole is the goal,  giving you a better chance to make a shorter putt.   Both V and X are similar for iron shots , so if you're dialed in with the X on driver,  understand how it's going to react on iron and wedge shots...mainly  by playing and practicing,  and your score will improve.

I agree driver performance will overrule feel on short clubs.... BUT to me short club performance should overrule driver performance.

When I do a ball fitting I'd rather see someone be able to hit wedge shots, that check up and are playable but loose 5 yards on a driver, than gaining 5 yards but give up performance on the short shots!

Like Paul said you use a driver maybe 14 times a round, but you're more than likely using a wedge or short club much more often!

You will often here is recommended to start a 'ball fitting' at the green and work backwards. I like this approach but do not consider it universally applicable, especially with high ball speed players. At the end of the day, the player needs to decide which ball they feel will suit their game the best.
