Well, I'm finally headed to Augusta!  I know what you're thinking, you've worked in the golf industry for this long and you still haven't been?  I'll be there for rounds 3 and 4 and couldn't be more excited.

For those who have been before, please feel free to provide any tips and tricks for taking it all in.  ie. When's the best time to hit the merch tent? Where's the best spot to post up for a few hours? etc.

    Thanks in advance,

Mitch -- Enjoy! Will you be going in a Titleist capacity or purely on a personal level?

I've never been, but several of my friends have gone and they have shared their "tips" -- there thoughts are summarised as follows:

    1. Try the Pimento Cheese Sandwich -- simply so that you can say that you "have been there, done that" ... if you like it, even better! But, they all to a person have told me that the chicken sandwich (?) is a much better choice.

    2. Pick out your spot for viewing early in the day -- and stick with it. Most of the people that went have all told me that they thought the best spot was to be around Amen Corner or near the green on 16. As they used to say, the Masters does not get going until the back nine on Sunday!

    3. Enjoy, enjoy, and enjoy some more.

That is awesome Mitch! I have nothing to offer for tips or tricks as I have yet to make it out to Augusta myself.

I am sure we will all be interested in hearing about your experience.

    Have a fantastic time.

Mitch, I'm even more jealous now. What a masters!!! Probably the best Sunday I've ever seen! You also were able to witness Tiger making one of the best comebacks in history! Hope you kept your ticket, that was a historic moment.

    Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for the well wishes prior to leaving for Augusta. As you can imagine, as it got closer and closer, the more people that I talked to the more the hype built up. My expectations were through the roof before stepping food on the property at Augusta National. And...the experience far exceeded all of the hype and expectations. What an experience.

What you have heard is true...
-TV does not do the slope and elevation of each hole justice. It is wild. #10 has the structure and elevation of a ski hill...a really beautiful, really green, ski hill.
-Everything is perfect. Even the pebbles that they put down when things get muddy for the patrons matches the shade of green of the grass perfectly.
-Every line you run into moves VERY fast. Concessions, washrooms, merch shop etc...they all run VERY efficiently
-The players work HARD to make a number. When you're there in person, you can see the grind up close. A lot of thought is going into each shot to try and navigate the golf course.
-When you set you seat down around a tee box or green, no one takes it. Other patrons are welcome to sit there, but the local rule is they're not allowed to move the seat and have to give it up when you return. Very cool.
-No cell phones or electronics of any kind are allowed in your possession inside the gates. While uncomfortable at first, this was refreshing once I got accustomed to it. Is there a higher concentration of people absent of cell phones in the world at any one time during that week? This truly allows you to experience the purity of the game and the course.

On Saturday we walked around and followed a number of players. On Sunday, we set up our seats on #16 on the hill that you can see on TV from the tee box to the left of the green. We walked around for much of the morning then took to our seats for the final 10 groups. We had full view of #15 from there as well.

Amazing experience!!! I can't wait to go back one day and experience it again.

    All the best,
    Mitch D

SO glad to hear you had such a great time on your trip. With all the years you have devoted to the game and helping people like us as we strive to improve, you deserved the opportunity to experience Augusta.
    Welcome back to reality :)

Thanks for the update Mitch sounds even more awesome. I just wish one year they'd pull my name in the ticket lottery.
