I took up the game of golf in my 30's and stopped wearing a glove very shortly after I started taking the game seriously. Part of the reason was that I just never felt comfortable holding the club with a glove on in the heat of the summer, and partly due to the fact I got tired of putting it on and taking it off over and over through the round. Personally I think I get a good grip on the club as long as I have clean grips on my clubs and am not really sure that a glove makes that much of a difference to me. Just curious... Am I alone in not wearing a glove or are there others out there like me that prefer to pay without one ? If you do wear one, how many rounds do you get before having to get out a fresh one ?

I tend to sweat (a lot) on the course. I always wear a glove but remove it between shots. I also do not wear the glove to putt. In very warm weather I will have two (or sometimes three) gloves in play - one in my pocket (or on my hand), and one drying out attached to the bag. Everyone's grip is a bit different and I play with a few folks who do not ever wear gloves. Personal decision I suppose.

I am really old school, no glove with a 10 finger grip. I did try a glove for about a month and just found it uncomfortable and a pain to put on and take off. I have been playing for 40+ years and just look after my grips by cleaning them and a bit of sandpaper to rough them up seems to work for me.

Glove, might be all in my head but I trust it more that my club won't turn in my grip.

I always have worn a glove, but the funny thing is, is that if I go to Golftown and hit balls in the simulator, I normally hit without a glove, and it feels OK.
A new glove in the heat of the summer sometimes is a chore to get it on and off.

By the way, Chris- nice dog.

Glove. Titleist Perma Soft. I use full cord grips and the combo lets me never think about it.
Also, preshot routines a glove can help trigger focus.

Cannot hit a golf ball without a glove on.. next to no grip, worried about the club flying out of my hands or moving when striking the ball.

The glove provides control, comfort and predictable stability. I'm not a sweaty person but my hands get sweaty in the summer and those grips may well be covered in grease with how slippy they get without a glove.

Do you brave folks playing with no grip apply talc, chalk and sandpaper to your hands before you play?!

Lefty... I have never had to use talc or anything on my hands to play without a glove. I find that with my CP2 Grips I have absolutely no issues with slippage. It is true that when it is pouring rain then slippage can occur, but i am not sure if anything would really help. It's not like I play with a caddie that can carry everything and keep everything dry for me. I just wipe the grips and my hands down with a dry towel which I keep under my umbrella and I am good to go.

i've never worn a glove. i hate the feel of them.

i use corded grips and have never had a problem with sweaty palms.

the idea of buying gloves, losing gloves, wrecking gloves, and taking them on and off constantly sounds awful to me.

When I was young, I took up the game as a boy, we didn't use gloves. We all heard stories about Ben Hogan practicing until his hands bled! We were taught that we needed to develop calluses in the correct spots for promoting a proper grip.

It wasn't until my midteens that me and the other junior golfers started wearing gloves ... and I've never stopped. Also because we came to conclude that if the Golden Bear, Tom Watson, Johnny Miller and the others wore gloves, then maybe we should too!

Nowadays, I stock up when the FJ buy 3 get the fourth free marketing campaign comes up every May! I also stock up on my Titleist Gloves too ... I truly believe that the PermaSoft and the Players gloves are the best on the market without paying more than $35.

Darius ... I use the GP MCC grips and i really like the feel of those grips with the glove on! In summer, I switch to the FJ Tour Flex for better breathing.

I have not worn a glove in years, except for rain gloves or maybe wear one on cold days. I think it came from watching Fred Couples play without one and also the golfers tan was getting too many comments at work. My favorite oxymoron in golf is, Lucas Glover wears no glove.

I always wear a glove. I've had the club twist in my hands too many times not too. I also don't like the callus'.

    Bragg Creek,

I can't wear a glove unless it's raining so hard that I can't keep the grips dry. So I have a pair of the FJ rain gloves (I only ever use the left glove as a righty) and never wear a glove otherwise. I use Golf Pride NDMC Midsize w/+4 wraps and have pretty huge mitts. As a side note, the rain gloves are the only ones that I find to fit properly.
