I just bought a 910F 17 degree used from a local shop.   It swingweights at D5 at 42" (1/2" under stock) length.  It has a 7 gram weight plug, which is standard as far I can tell from my internet research, so it seems like some other means was used to get the swing weight so high on a shortened club.  I am guessing there is some hot-melt in the head, or a tip weight in the shaft/adapter.  If I knew the factory head weight for the 17 degree 910F, it would help me figure out what is going on.  Is this information available anywhere?

By the way, the shaft is a  Diamana 72 x5ct (s+ series Blueboard), which was not offered in the 910F as far as I can tell.  But I would suspect that it would be similar to the factory kai'li 75 offering, in terms of the effect on the club's swing weight.

    Thanks,

    David,

-1/2" under stock would be 42.5".  This being a full inch under standard, this doesn't make sense how it would build that heavy.  With the heaviest bezel weight at that length, the swing weight would be C9.  We only had a shot of hot melt for feel and sound, but nothing to the amount that it will adjust swing weight that much.  We would be more than happy to check this swing weight for you and figure out what the issue may be.  Just take it to your local retailer who can set this up with our Repairs Department.  Contact Team Titleist at 1-888-TITLEIST if you have any questions.

    Sincerely,

According to the Titleist website and brochures, the standard length for the 4-wood (17 degree) that I have is 42.5" so mine is 1/2" under length at 42".  The following is a cut/paste from the 910F pdf brochure on the Titleist site:

    13.5°, 15°, 17°, 19°

    43", 43", 42.5", 42"

I'm not interested in sending the club back to Titleist.  I do my own club work, and was merely hoping to find out the factory head weight for the club so I could determine if the extra swingweight is in the head, or in the shaft (tip weight, etc.).  If this info isn't available, or can't be provided, then I will just have to figure it out myself.

    David,

Sorry about that.  I misread your post and was thinking in terms of our 3 metals.

The swing weight just seems off for some reason, since we don't use tip weights in metal wood shafts and wouldn't add more then one shot of hot melt.  Please let us know if you find the head weight to be well off or too heavy and we can assist.

    Thanks,

This was the point of my original question.  I am trying to figure out why the swing weight is off, as you indicate.  But since I don't know what the head is supposed to weigh, then how can I know if the head weight is "well off or too heavy." Normally, a 4-wood head would be around 210 grams, but I don't know how the adapter tip, etc., plays into that weight.   I will weigh the head tonight and report back what I find.

    David,

The head weight for that 17* should be roughly 209g without the Surefit adapter and with a standard 7g screw.  You also may want to see if a local golf shop could check the swing weight to get a second opinion.

  7. In some cases (not often) but if I need a lighter swing weight than the current screw and another lighter one is not available...you can file/cut the existing one down one gram at a time until you find the desired swing weight....just a thought...it is extreme and I would not usually recommend it but it sounds like the best option to lower the swing weight.  Of course you could always try a heavier grip as a first option...it is an easier option.  Plus, fresh grips are always awesome!

    Good Luck!

Well, mystery solved. My head was 210.5 grams, so I figured that was probably as it left the factory. So I went ahead and pulled the adapter tip, and no top weight. But there was something between 3 and 6 inches up in the shaft. I heated the tip of a piece of stiff wire and pushed it up there, it broke through, and a bunch of lead powder came out! Now it is C9 at 42.5 inches, so I need to add about 4 swing weight points.

Are the 910 weight screws available anywhere? Ebay only seems to have the 7 gram weights. I would need something around 12 grams. Otherwise, I will just use a tip weight.

  9. David,

We do have 12g individual weights available.  Any retailer can order them for you by contacting Titleist Customer Service.  Let me know if you have any issues with getting this on order.
