    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows the difference between the woods and hybrids, distance/trajectory-wise.  I am planning on getting a 910F 3 wood (15 degrees of loft) and I use a cb 3 iron (21 degrees of loft).  I was wanting to know the difference in distance and trajectory between the 5 wood (19 degrees of loft) and the 2 iron hybrid (17 degrees of loft), and which one would fill in the gap better.  I hit my 3 wood 240-250 and my 3 iron 205-210.  Any suggestions/ information would be great!  Thanks.

    Sam,

I'm thinking distance wise, you're looking a two very comparable clubs.  The shaft you select would have tremendous impact on trajectory and distance.  But from my own experience, the 5 wood will deliver a higher ball flight, but the 2H would be more versatile hitting from the rough.  It's not much help, I know, but if I were you, I'd try to find the time to get fit properly - it's truly the best way to find the ball flight and distance you're looking for.

    Good luck,

    George

  3. Fairways and Hybrids are not comparable in my mind since they have two very distinct different purposes.  Fairways are perfect off tee boxes and for longer shots that are from more ideal lies vs. Hybrids are great for poor lies and situations where longer irons might have been used traditionally. IMHO

  4. Hello Sam,

I have a 5W and a 2H (different manufacturer), both are 18 degrees loft but the 5W shaft is 1.5" longer. I normally carry the 2H because 1.) I hit it higher so it stops quicker after it lands and 2.) I use for little bump-and-run shots out of the rough when I'm just off the green. I play a handful of courses with par 5's on them that I can't reach with the hybrid so I picked up the 5W for those courses. The longer shaft on the 5W gives me the extra distance I need (@+15 yards). There's going to be demo days coming up on us soon. I'm sure your local Titleist rep will have no problems let you try out both!

    Good luck this year.
