I am a Titleist  Brand user and would like to get my 12 & 14 year old boys to start with 712/714 AP1 Irons and I would like your recommendation on which shaft is best for them as they enter their teenage years.  My oldest son played on his middle school golf team.  My thought is the True Temper XP 95 - R300 ?   The 712 AP1  set he has now has the Dynalite Gold XP R300 (they might be to heavy of a shaft for him now).  Should I consider the XP 95 - R300 ?

  2. Doug,

It would be best if your sons were fitted properly for their clubs. I've fit many juniors. I've fit some in XP 95's, R300's...some in a graphite shaft...some R flex, S Flex, L flex, A flex... It's kind of like...when you get them new shoes for school, you just don't take them in to the store, grab a couple random boxes and checkout. You wouldn't do that. You'd make sure that they would fit them properly before buying them. Trust me. It's well worth it. If they're playing for the first time, or their 50th round, with properly fitted clubs they'll play better golf.

Best of luck to you guys.
