  1. Have been playing Titleist drivers for years and always struggled with High spin. Last year went to the D3 instead of the D2 which helped but spin was still about 2800 and just wasn't getting any roll out on my drives. With all the recently about the SLDR driver I tried it out and it brought my spin down to 1700. Feel is no where near as nice as the D3 and seems carry distance is about the same. I am wondering if there is a way through shafts to reduce the spin? Have put the SLDR in the bag but sure miss the feel of my D3!! HELP!

I was having the same problems and ended up getting a 913d3 8.5 with a Diamana Whiteboard 72X shaft. It brought my spin numbers down to the 2300 range with a 14.2 LA. I couldnt be happier with the setup!

  3. But when optimal is supposed to be 17* launch and 1700 spin????? Or are those numbers disputable?
Is there a pro club fitter out there that can chime in?

    Hi David,

    Thanks for the question.

When it comes to launch conditions of a driver there is a window we club fitters like to see.  Typically a launch angle between 10 and 14 degrees with a corresponding spin of 2200 - 2800 RPM is optimal for most golfers.  Of course, golfers with lower ball speed will need higher launch and spin and golfers with higher ball speed will require lower launch and spin.  Most importantly, the ball flight has to be controllable and look good to the players eye.

    Hope this helps.

    Bubba
