Sometimes I have to tell you, its much easier being dumb about all this swingweight stuff .. hahaha

I have been going by the local Golf Store and swinging the new 714 AP2 irons and I absolutely love them. After I was done puring the clubs for 30 minutes I ran out to my truck and grabbed my 6 iron to see what the difference was. Lo and behold mine felt so much lighter in the head. I tested and found the stock 714 AP2 6 iron was a D4 swing weight. When I weighed mine, it was a D1. Of course mine are custom and I am thinking a recent Grip change may have sent me over the edge and I can really feel it. And just FYI, I absolutely love the weight of the 714's. Just another FYI I have been swinging the 714's for 3 months off and on so it was just not one test, this is the first time I compared it to mine.

I presently swing 712 AP2 irons with 5.5 Rifle Shafts and 1/2 inch long and recently with Golf Pride Midsize Platinum Series Grips.

Ok before you say go buy the 714's let me tell you I absolutely adore my 712's and I want to wait for the 716's. I have won numerous tournaments with these clubs but it appears I may have been swinging too light a club. I suppose I adjusted to them but now its very obvious my 712's are too light!! oh me, 6'3 225, I think I can swing a few extra grams, 4 handicapper.

How would you recommend I proceed ... lead weights?, Lead powder in the shaft??? Break out the credit Card??

Potential scratch golfer with your help ... hahaha.

  2. Mike, I would break out the credit card and have it done right...IMHO

I did this last fall with my set and I am thrilled about the outcome...I have tinkered with other ways to adjust Swing weight but it is not the same of a factory fresh dialed in set.

    Good Luck!
