  1. Good morning fitters,

I m a happy 12 handicap golfer playing AP2 710 4-P with DG S300. Love the shape, height, feel, spin etc. of my shots with the shaft since day one and not going to change it.

My current wedges are: another brand, 52-56, D6 - dg tour concept wedge) and I have very high launch,a lot of spin, inconsistency. I feel the club heavy as well on my hand at set up.

At the moment I am trying to fill up the work wedge international order form for some TVD K 60 54 and maybe 50 M (not sure if will be SM5 M).I will fit my 50 wedge with DG S300

    Question 1: Which shaft for my 54 and 60 ? :S300 or S400

I will like to have a lower trajectory on my new wedges (very happy with my PW AP2 710 - S300) and I was leaning towards S 300 but than Bob Vokey is suggesting S 200, while I m reading happy players with S 400.

Question 2: 50 Wedge lengths as PW or shorter ?

    Question 3: My AP2 irons clubs are 2 deg flat , should I order 50 1 flat and 54/60 0.5 flat ?

    Regards

    R.B.

    Hi Roberto,

    Thanks for the question.

    1) You should select you wedge shafts based off feel. You will likely not notice a very big difference in launch and spin between the three simply because of the speed with which you will hit those shots. Bob Vokey suggests S200 because it gives a player more feel. Many other players like S400 because of the weight. Try to hit them both and find what is right for you.

    2) I would suggest keeping the 50 GW at Std. Length (35.5")

    3) As a fitter, I mostly suggested to players to get their GW with the same specs as their irons (2 flat for you). From there, determine what your miss is on the rest of your wedges. There is no set rule as to progression, it really is player dependent.

Hope this gives you some guidance. If you can, try to find a local fitter. They will be able to help you further.

    Take care,

    Bubba

Yes, get fitted and try out some shafts. I just received my newest set of AP2s and I got custom Vokey's as well. I matched the same shaft  on wedges and irons (KBS C-Taper) as I loved the feel of them, and I went 2* flat on my wedges to match my irons. Just played my first round with them and everything felt great. Not sure I would've tried those shafts unless they were recommended to me.

I changed from PX 6.0, so can't comment on the difference in your shafts, but I do notice more control, better feel and lower loft (I was getting too much loft).

Also, try out the new 714s. The AP2 has come a long way (I've had the original, the 712 and now the 714). I do have a gap in my wedge lofts, but I go from AP2 PW to Vokey 52, 56, 60. I have thought about having them bent 1* strong, but I'm used to the lofts and manage the gap well depending on the shot.

  4. I would prefer to see how you hit the S400...the standard shaft is S200 which may be too light...JAT
