Changing lofts of AP1 Wedges

  1. I really like the feel of the new ap1 but I dislike the loft of the wedges. 44* PW and 48* GW, really? This almost requires me to carry an extra wedge to fill the gap between the 48* and my SW, which would mean either dropping a fairway wood or my 60*. I currently game a 45* PW and a 50* GW that I use for almost everything inside 105 yards. 48* would just not be good for that purpose.

I was wondering if it's possible, when getting custom fit, to have the loft of certain clubs in the set altered? Could I get a 45* PW and a 50* GW like I'm used to (and like what the AP1 712 used to be).

    Thanks!

Don't see why not.  That is only 1* with the  PW and 2* with the GW.  Why not take a Vokey for the GW and bend it to whatever loft you desire?   A 50-08 is a great GW.   I wasn't a big fan of a 48-06 as a PW or GW; too long in stock form (I set it with a 35.5" length to match my 9 iron).

2* of loft difference is about 5-7 yards with a full swing.   All you need to do to shave 10 yards is choke down 1/2" on a full swing.

My wedge setup is AP1 PW (45), SM4 50-08 and 54-11 1* strong, 58-06 and 64-07 stock loft.   The gaps between PW-58 are 10 yards and 15 yd between the 58 and 64.  The rest of my bag is driver-3W-7W, 4-22H, 6-29H, 7-34H, and 8-9 irons.  I have 10 yards between clubs from 3W-22H, 15 yards between clubs between the 22H-34H, and 10 yards between  clubs between the 34H-9 iron.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the question.

You can definitely have the lofts of the wedges altered to better fit the gaps in your bag. The only thing to keep in mind is when you change the lofts of a club, you change the effective bounce.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

  4. And does the bounce increases or decreases when we increase the loft of a club ?

If you were to add loft to a club, you would effectively add bounce as well.

    Hope this helps.

  6. And I guess the increase would be the same as the increase in loft ?

    +1* loft = +1* bounce ?

Correct. Sorry I didn't clarify that.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
