Hi, I have play for two years and overall performance was very bad and I can't get much distance; driver abt 200 yards and 7 iron abt 120 yards. Should I get fitted?

You should definitely get fitted! It is one of the most important things to ensure you can swing your best. If your clubs are too long/short or maybe need to be flatter/upright can make a serious impact on your swing. Find a good fitter and focus on the basics and as you progress you can fiddle with swingweights and so on.

If I really hv the opportunity, I will do the fitting in the December which means that I got 9 months to go. I hope that this 9 months will bring to another level. What do u think is the best time to do the fitting for my clubs because I was just planning to do fitting for my driver, fairway wood and hybrid only.

I don't know if Titleist has a specific "policy" on fitting for adolescents/teen agers, but my sense of it is that young boys will grow and it seems to me that the cost of a fitting can be somewhat prohibitive, especially as a young male enters their major growth period.

The benefits of a fitting could easily be negated within 6-7 months of a growth spurt. It seems to me that it might be better to do as Erik S. suggested -- go with some coaching/lessons to help hone the golf swing skills that will serve JL well for the rest of his adult life.

Once he finishes or nears the end of his teenage growth years, then he can consider fitting for the clubs.

Where I grew up, our junior golf program used to have a sort of "swap" meet of sorts where we could buy used clubs from other boys that were a few years older than us and they would suit our needs for a couple of years. It might be worthwhile to see if a similar program exists where JL lives and plays. Or check with one of the local PGA teaching professionals or pro shops to see if they have access to clubs for a better budget that can meet his temporary needs.

I was hoping that I hv the chance to get fitted but I thought that the fitting process is only for the better player and if I really got the chance to do it, I might do the fitting on December because I am heading to Europe and do u all hv any idea abt the fitting center there?

    Grindelwald,

with 15 only it is not unusual that you are not hitting a distance like Bubba!
These days all young guys are not happy with their golf if not hitting like a pro

Never the less it is always good if you get fitted in order to have the right clubs in your bag

A good fitting can help any golfer. Getting the proper club length and lie as well as fit to the golfer's swing as it relates to transition and path can especially help the average golfer. That said, finding your best swing is helpful before you get fit. I was unique in that I added almost 6 inches to my height from 15 to 21. That would have rendered the fitting obsolete within 18-24 months. Even starting golf at 59, I've had to get refit as I've eliminated a reverse pivot/over the top swing to something more consistent. If you are at the end of your growth spurts and you are working on golf fitness and swing evaluation, then look at getting fit. Just don't assume a fitting alone will move your drives 80-100 yards longer.

Can i know what is the cost of fitting? i plan to do the shaft fitting just for my driver, fairway and hybrid only because i think that i need to get a longer distance using them. what do u all think?

A fitting will help current swing. If swing is not where you want, then lessons may be best option first. This being said, getting fitted is a must a some point as most rack clubs/shaft will not meet your swing.
