Iron shafts

  1. Just recently did an iron fitting with the new cb716s. However it's the shaft recommendation that I'm having trouble with. I was fit for the s400 AMT Tour issue shafts (to be sst pured which is a very expensive addition as well) with a swingweight of D6.5.

If I decided to go the least expensive route and get the stock s400 AMT non tour issue shafts also not have the shafts sst pured should I still get the recommended swing weight of D6.5? Or forget that too and just get a standard D1 or D2 swing weight?

  2. Wow, Swingweight of D6.5 is REALLY heavy...doesnt sound correct...you may wish to double check...I have D4 and most people think that is heavy.

However, I would do the non-tour version but get whatever swingweight you were fitted for...there is a huge difference between D2 and D6! The tour version just has a tighter tolerance for variable in terms of weight.

Thus, the most economical way is non-tour, unless you are really particular, but go with whatever swingweight your fitter suggested.

    Good Luck!

Hi J, The swingweight will depend on the length of the shafts, the grip as well as the grip size. If you can let us know what those are, we can give you the swingweight parameters. You can order the DYG AMT S400 in non Tour issue as well as Tour issue - we offer both.
As far as Puring - we have done testing with our players on Tour as well as top amateurs and have not been able to discern a measurable difference in performance so we don't offer or recommend it.
  4. During the fitting I tested the s400 6 iron shaft (sst pured too). Length was 37.5. Pretty sure that's standard. and with titleist velvet grip was a standard size too. Hopefully this gives you the additional info.
    Thanks.
  5. Sure. S400 tour issue 6 iron shaft. Length was 37.5. Grip was standard size tour velvet vtr

Hi J, That is a standard length 6 iron at 37.5". D 6.5 is very heavy. D2 is our standard swingweight for that length with that shaft and grip. As Chris said, I would double check that swingweight as it seems heavy. We can build it to D4 upon request but to build it to D6.5 we would need to use the light Tour Velvet grip.
