Hello everyone! Finally I've been playing more golf this year, practicing more and had more lessons too.

My game has improved and the clubs I play are quite chunky and forgiving. Steel shafts.

Should I stick with the same set, play more or get fitted to my "new" game? AP1's probably!!!!

There's my old swing, the new one and a mixed of both right now!

    What do you reckon?

    Cheers

  2. I ran into this issue last year when I started getting serious about lowering my handicap. The philosophy that worked for me was two stages.

    1) While I was still trying to groove the new swing, I went through a fitting and updated my iron shafts, grips, and loft/lie to match the recommended specs. That half update gave me a good feel for how my swing was progressing.

    2) Once I found my (more) consistent swing path, I went back for another full iron fitting and built a custom set based on the full recommendations.

I feel that taking my time and working through building a set as my swing progressed helped me understand the difference each equipment adjustment (club head/shaft/grip/length/loft/lie/etc) can make.

When to buy new clubs? When they come out? There are many, like me, on this thread who might not be the best to give advice on new sticks! :) You're in the right place to find the best clubs in my opinion. (And one of the coolest golf communities) I'm currently playing AP2s, but I did try out the AP1s and thought they were pretty good. If not for my ego, I'd probably still have them in the bag. Good luck with your search! Enjoy the journey!

I'm wrestling with that now. I am planning to grab the trial sets to try the two newest AP's vs my 710 AP1s.

Love that Titleist has this option!
  5. I would consider purchasing whenever you get serious about wanting to lower your scores and become more consistent...furthermore, it sounds like you are there so now might be the right time!

    IMHO!

I would like to thank everyone for replying so fast. I may try to find a trial set(never thought about it) or get fitted.

    I'll keep you guys posted.

I'd go get a fitting done with your local professional fitter. Take along your current clubs and after getting fitted see how different the loft/lie/length/shafts recommendations are VS what you already have. I currently play AP1 712's and love them. But from your post I'd say now would be a great time to get fitted & some new clubs to help you progress to lower scores & handicap. Good Luck Fernando
