Shaft Alternatives

  1. I have been fitted for new irons and the recommended shaft is the Project X .355 Flex 6.0

Due to supply chain challenges, I am looking for a good alternative to determine if there is better availability or will shorten the Back Order.

I am ultimately looking of a Stiff Shaft with a low Launch.

    Cheers

Go back and see your fitter for an alternative shaft recommendation.

I went to a fitter who was certified with multiple OEM companies and used miz’s shaft optimizer. It’s a high tech tool to help identify shaft selection. Look for a fitter who uses one and it could help determine alternative options for you. Good luck.

If you go to the Shaft Performance Guide located on this site, it may help you.

I currently play the TS3 driver, 8.5 loft. Tense av series 55 flex-s shaft. My question is can I take my TS# 15 degree, ALDILA 80-2.8-S shaft and put it in my current driver I described above?

    Thanks, Tim

You can do whatever you want Tim (for now - might be a new law soon).
Keep in mind that it's most likely quite a bit shorter so it will have a dramatic change in swing weight. Also you will need to swap the adaptor tip to fit your driver.
  7. you would have to swap the adapters and you would be left with a heavy shaft that is 2.5" shorter than a standard driver. Don't bother.

No, your driver and fairway hosel adapters are different sizes and are not interchangeable.

You fitter should be able to provide other shafts to accommodate you needs. If not see another fitter.

I've never paid too much attention to shafts until my last fitting...After trying literally dozens of shafts over a few week period, there is such a difference even among shafts within the same weight and profile, so I would recommend you go try other shafts and see what works...I just kept going to my local Golf Galaxy after doing research on a few shafts; had them put a club together with the T200 I currently have, and tried them and took notes every time...eventually narrowed it down to 2 or 3 and then made a selection.
