T100 2° Weak vs T150

  1. Hello, I was fit into T100 today and loved the feel, consistency and looks of them. The main issue was from my swing... low dynamic loft which resulted in lower than ideal spin (5,100-5,500 for 7). So the fitter recommended that I order them 2° weak.

So, what would be the difference between a 2° weak T100 at 36° and a normal 36° T150 8 iron?

Assuming I adjusted the length and lie correctly, and am fine with the resultant higher swing weight in the T150, would there be any difference in launch, spin, ballspeed etc?

I've read that the T150's are more forgiving. Would going the T150 route theoretically help me tighten up my dispersion?

What about bounce and offset difference with going 2° weak on the T100's. Would the extra bounce and less offset even be noticeable?

Which way would should I go?

    Thanks!

I'd make a U turn and go back to the fitter. Did he have you hit the T150? If not, I'd ask for a refund.

The T100 7 iron is 34 degrees. The T150 is 32 degrees. Wouldn’t changing the loft from 34 to 36 degrees be needed to increase dynamic loft? Or opposite direction from the stronger lofted T150 irons?

I’m no fitter, but I never care about the iron number as much the distanced. The T200 using the 8 iron as the T100 7 iron is a possible solution. Best to check with the fitter. The point of me using irons as tool is to get optimal launch conditions. The only reason I bring up the T200. You didn’t get optimal launch with the T100. Clearly the T100 is sexier in looks and bragging rights.

As Don O mentioned the T100 are already 2 degrees weaker than the T150. If the fitter recommended going 2 degrees weak in the T100 you are in essence going to be 4 degrees week than the standard T150 loft.

Standard T100 7 iron is 34 degrees, standard T150 7 iron 32 degrees. If the fitter recommended 2 degrees weak in the T100 your new 7 iron loft is 36 degrees. More starting loft would mean more dynamic loft potentially.

  5. I think this is a question you should ask the fitter. The 150 is my preferred performance compared the slightly less forgiving T100.

I would prefer an iron with no adjustments to loft than to make a two degree adjustment that will also affect bounce and turf interaction slightly.

    IMHO
