  1. At the risk of sounding a little nerdy here, I think it might be fun to gain a greater insight and understanding of how PGA professionals fine-tune their clubs and why they do it. We've probably all read what different tour players have in their bag, but I have yet to find out how they make their special settings on their clubs. Of course you can see a bit of lead tape here and there, but there is certainly a lot of hidden fitting that is hard to see and understand for those of us who don't work in Titleist Tourbus.

My question is short and sweet, is there anywhere to read about how the Team Titleist players on the PGA tour want their base fitting to bring out their specific feel that they want? Club lengths, lie, loft, weights on different club heads, grip size, how they use the grip tape in different ways to get the right feel etc etc.

Niclas, those of us on here are amateurs and Titleist loyalists like yourself and do not access to this kind of information.

Even Aaron Dill only hints at how pros end up with the Vokey wedges they use. WITB articles provide the most information and rarely goes past head and shaft. The biggest clue is when they use raw metal wedges. Easier to grind on request.

With a good friend that's a former caddy for a multiple major winner, former Team Titleist guy, I know a large group of the guys are club geeks as well, the Tour van isn't always around. They'll get specific grinds on the irons as well as near perfect QC (loft/lie/length) on their clubs. Many like a thinner top line than the stock irons have. and the swing weights are very close, instead of somewhat close. They may have to go through a couple sets to find what they like. Sounds old school but some still do it. There's a reason guys like Stricker/Scott/Cantlay still play older clubs. Hate to say it, but all of us mortals get typical assembly line clubs, a little QC, nowhere near what the Tour guys get. Even Zander has a few Vokey's in that big cally bag. When it works, you play it.
