I play Pentas currently and I know Titleist makes the number one in golf so I was wondering if there are a lot of similarities or differences between these two golf balls.
Thanks

Hi Blaine... I am a loyal Titleist golf ball player (ProV1 / Prov1x since they came out) but also like to experiment with different golf balls but I always keep coming back to the ProV1x. "Sound" is an important factor for me and the X has a more "solid" sound whereas the Penta has a "softer" sound (at least to me) especially with the driver and putter. The X seems to "explode" off the driver face and has a really nice "click" off the putter. The Penta has an overall "softer" sound (which I equate to "feel") when compared to the X. Keep trying Titleist, they make a superior product... just look at how many Professionals earn their living playing Titleist!

There are a lot of good products out there. Penta is certainly one of them.
I tried a box last summer and played them side to side with the ProV1x. I found them to be comparable in distance but I much prefer the way that I can control the ProV1x around the green. I also seem to be able to work the ball a little better with longer clubs. (I just wish I could do that more consistently!!)
I have two putters that I switch back and forth depending upon how they are behaving. Both balls feel about the same off of my Ping but the Titleist has a much better feel off of my Cameron.
Durability goes to Titleist--no question. I don't know how they do it, but others cannot match the combination of soft feel/control and durability of a Titleist.
Bottom line try 'em side by side. You might feel differently or might have different characteristics that are more important to your game than I do. But I can guarantee you that there will be times during the season when no little white round thing will help my game. That's when I dig into the pocket with the mystery balls.
Good luck...
