Recently the Golf Channel has been advertising a gadget that you place your golf ball in and it spins it and finds the center of gravity.  Really looks like a scam, but I thought I would ask the experts.   What do you folks from the Titleist Staff think about this?  Thanks for the response!!!

There's an old saying... Some lures catch fish. Some lures catch fishermen.

I don't doubt for a minute that every golf ball is microscopically off center. I think common sense would simply suggest that. On the other hand, I don't think it's enough for anyone not playing the major tours to be concerned about. I certainly wouldn't waster time marking my ball with one.

On the other hand, I saw a really cute device the other day called a Tin Cup. (www.tin-cup.com) It's a metal cup perforated with a little design you choose. Your golf ball sits in it and you use a fine point Sharpie marker to draw the pattern on your ball. They have a big variety of patterns.

If I was going to mark something other than my initials on a golf ball, I'd buy that before I'd buy the spinning device.

That was a good tool with the old "wound" golf balls. but with today's solid construction not a big problem.

Remember the old Golf Ball commercial... wherein you put golf balls in a bucket of water (w/ some other solution), the lightest side of the ball will always float on top... THAT DIED QUICKLY!

With today's R&D of golf balls, In my opinion they would have solved that problem already... it was true. Otherwise, golf balls will just continue to get better and better.
