I was out playing yesterday and all my iron shots were going 7-10 yds farther than my usual yardages. It was a bit warmer than usual yesterday so I'm trying to decide if my swing is getting stronger or if the temperature had an impact.

    What does the science say?

Brandon  sounds like a possible double effect .Your swing could be getting stronger due to the warmer temperature. The muscles in the human body respond better to warmer temperatures allowing the muscles in our bodies to work more efficiently ,just like a golf ball responds better to warmer temps in relationship to the air density, generally being lower in warmer temperatures.

  3. Brandon there have been many discussions on this topic over the years and it is clear that temperature does make a difference.  The colder the shorter the ball a goes in the ProV1 category however as I pointed out ball construction makes a difference as well since certain types of balls are affected less than others.

Do a google search and you can pull up some great case studies.

    Have fun! Great Question!!

Science says the ball goes farther.  Less dense air = less resistance and more distance.  Enjoy it while it lasts, we'll all be upset with clubbing up once it gets cold this fall.

Probably a little bit of both. This is also something I notice when I simply have better ball striking days with my irons. When you hit the middle of the face your ball speed naturally goes up. The more you hit the sweet spot the more confidence you gain, the more freely you swing, and that can translate into extra yardage as well.
