What's the main difference between both Pro-V1 balls? The website is pretty vague about it. I'm a 10 handicap and looking to purchase a box of either. Any information at all would be helpful.

I'm looking for a soft feel off the face, with solid control around the greens.

My experience, totally non-scientific, is that the ProV1 spins more than the ProVx. Consequently my experience is the ProVx is slightly straighter off the tee and slightly lower off the tee. When I hit a wedge to the green, the ProV1 will land and spin back while the ProVx will land and stop. Both are pretty soft feeling. It comes down to personal preference. On a short par 3 over water, I hit a Pinnacle found in the woods.

I'll agree but add the slightly higher spin on the V1 also goes through all of the clubs and not just wedge shots. While I like the feel of the ProV1, the spin I generate with this ball tends to hurt my numbers. Changing to the ProV1X the spin numbers came down and I still have not had an issue stopping the ball. 9 iron (about 150 yards) to my 54 degree Vokey I can still pull it back with no added effort. Too much back spin can be an issue especially playing on a breezy day . I play to an 8 handicap and a fairly solid game all around.

Pro V1x definitely has less spin, so you will see straighter shots on long irons and woods. Pro V1x seems to give a higher launch though. Pro V1 has softer feel which you may like around the greens. Based on your comment about wanting a soft feel face and control around the greens you are probably better off with Pro V1 .
  5. Here are my thoughts, however with the new balls coming out in 2017 this will all change. ProV1 - Softer feel around green and lower launch angle vs. ProV1x - Higher Launch angle with firmer feel around the greens. Both spin the same or at least very close and the distance is similar as well...maybe one goes 3 yards farther.

i'm an 11 handicap at the moment (was 9 earlier in the year) and hit the V1x a lot better. i got a lot more distance with the V1x over the V1. straighter ball flight and low spin. now to work on my short game...
  7. I would just buy a sleeve of each and try them side by side for a few rounds. That way you will find out the characteristics of each ball that fits your game. A lot of times I will switch between the two depending on the weather.
