    Hi, I am a 6 handicap but not a fast swinger or long hitter with my irons. I played a prov1x and was surprised by the driver distance in a good way. Thought i popped a couple up and i was happy to see it went pretty far. My question is will i lose distance with irons due to the higher spin rate of the prov1x. As i said im not a fast swinger or long hitter with irons. thanks for the help

    Probably not. Slower swing speeds generally need some extra spin to maintain loft. If your irons shots don't balloon, you're good to go.

    Consider the AVX, the Alternative to the V1 or X. The new 3-piece, urethane covered, Tour-level wonder ball, by Titleist. I played ProVs for years. I carry a 92-95 mph driver swingspeed. I honestly gained 5-10 yards with AVX off the tee. ProV is a great ball and cannot be beaten around the greens IMO. But for a bit more distance/lower spin off the tee and with long and mid irons, the AVX is my new favorite ball. FWIW, I am a 7 index and over 60 years old.

    What ball are you comparing it with? The Pro V1x is lower spin than the Pro V1, for example. What sort of spin/stop are you seeing with your approach shots using the Pro V1x? If that part is good, then the ball should be fine for you, in my opinion. By the way, I'm 73, currently at 10.2, trending back down, and play the Pro V1x.

    While this used to be true, the current (2017) Pro V1x now has a slightly higher spin rate as well as a slightly higher launch angle compared to the current Pro V1. It's a bit of a departure from the past comparisons. The new AVX is even lower spin than the Pro V1 with a slightly lower launch. This means the Pro V1x and AVX bracket the launch conditions of the Pro V1.

    Neil, unfortunately, you'll have to compare Pro V1x side by side against your current ball to find out for sure. Swing speed is only one of the determining factors in how a golf ball will perform for an individual player (attack angle, swing path, the type of iron used and dynamic loft at impact are others).

    For some players, Pro V1x will fly farther on iron shots because the higher launch and additional spin keeps the ball aloft and it will carry more. But, another player with the exact same swing speed could have completely different results based on how they deliver the club into impact.     I am migratIng to the PV1 from the X. The older I get the more the PV1 seems to better suite my game.
