Why change?

  1. I guess I'm going to have to change brands again. I went through this with NXT tours, I just came back with the Velocity and they jam my email with a "New" velocity? Give a guy a break. It's not that easy to adjust to a different ball, and if it's wrong for you, you have to start over. I'm hoping it's just marketing hype, but lead don't follow the market. I f I wanted a flat appearing ball, I'd bought them, don't change what I like. Who knows better? Customer or sales/marketing?

    Why change?

About an ad, every company ad is aimed to introduce something they're proud of and hopefully it will enthuse a following after some good work had been done by a company. I'm glad that there are plenty of choices out there from a company I trust.

On the other hand, every consumer has their own choice to test a new product or not… and if anyone were lucky enough to test a new ball, they'll have insights and knowledge that others may not have who didn't test them. The actual "change" is all up to the individual's assessment of the new ball.

In any case, this should all be a fun process to find something new or stay with what you have, find something more reliable (maybe?), something dependable, something paired well with your game... yes, to gain an advantage with the game you already have. ...just another opportunity.

It's an update to the 2018 version. They only get released every other year, unlike other OEMs that try to update annually. You can still stock up on the 2018 version at $4 off per dozen. It's possible you may find the new ball doesn't suit you as much, but I haven't found an upgrade in the Pro-V's that I didn't like as much as the prior. Even found the 2017 Pro-V1 to be a game-changer over the 2015.

Jim, Titleist do extensive R&D with their golf ball and send out test balls to customers for feedback. Their product launches are focused on giving the customer the latest and best tech so the customer is always the focus, not the marketing.

We live in a world where everyone expects everything and nothing is ever quiet good enough, it's hard to please the masses.

I have been playing with a ProV1 since they first were introduced into the Titleist lineup. Each new version is a little better than the previous one. I’ve tried just about every ball on the market. Nothing compares to the ProV1 , for me. Other balls claim they are the best in specific areas, such as distance, durability, spin, launch, visibility, etc. And they may be, but the ProV1/ProV1X are the complete package. They cost more, but there are ways to get deals on multiple dozens if your budget is a factor. We’re all trying to get better and I know my golf ball is never the problem. Good luck and have fun. We do this for recreation.

Great response. Could not have said it better myself. Cheers.
  7. Just like your post, I've been playing the ProVs for as long as I can remember. ProV1xs before and switched to the ProV1s last year. I also have played other balls from every other manufacturer but I always come back and love the ProV1s the best. They're just the best all around ball.. from everywhere. I'll never stray again.. But then again I do hit the AVXs once in a while :-)

On the bright-side if you don't want to change stock up on the old model, just think of the money you'll save on the discounted prices with every Pro Shop and golf store blowing them out.

Respectfully, titleist has millions of dollars and labor into research an development of golf balls and their performance. So in this case, they probably know more than the customer. If they "update" a ball, its probably for good reason. I can understand not liking change, I myself have a stubbornness about me, but Titleist makes the best golf balls in the world, they know what they are doing!

I stopped trying other balls a few years back and play the V1X. It is all I buy and I trust Titleist that each generation of the V1X will be better than the last.
