Good Morning! I bought the T300 irons and played my first round last week and the clubs look horrible already. I do live in an area where the soil is sandy underneath Also, These were fitted clubs so we are working through getting back center on club. Hence the 'Toe' Shots.

I've had Pings for over 15 years and never had this appearance issue. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for any help you can provide. -Andrew

  5. My home course has an extremely sandy range. Spend most of my practice time with the 8 iron and a 52 wedge to keep the damage to two clubs. They look ugly as I have black t100s and black finished vokey wedges. At least we don’t need iron covers now

Post photos of the ground/divots and ball(used?).... Something just dont look right!
  8. I'm sorry, but no way could a single golf ball, even multiple golf balls do that to a club. If you were hitting out of a waste bunker the whole day then maybe. I have 20 year old clubs that don't have that type of mark on them.

What do your other clubs look like?

I'm telling ya, I just literally got these clubs from Club Champion.
The other clubs I haven't hit as much, but the wear looks bad on those too
  10. Sandy course conditions or not the clubs have a different coating where the grooves are vs. the smooth toe area of the club. The face where the grooves have a more durable sandblasting finish and should clean easily - over time the face will wear down, but after a long time. The smooth toe section is not designed to take impact and effectively is the "sky mark" of an iron. You can try buffing it out, which will help. Get the toe strikes under control and problem solved, sandy course conditions will not damage the club.

Yes, there is a huge difference between the material of a cast club (ie, your old Pings) and a chrome plated iron. All chrome plated irons will scuff and scratch significantly more than a club that is not coated, just cast and sand blasted. Always has been this way and probably always will. As your picture shows, getting turf in the strike before ball will create more scratching by sand getting pinched between the ball and the iron.

A little toe-ee? Not sure you would think much of it if it were in the center? "Hey look at the perfect center wear on this club!" LOL :)
Believe it or not, the friction created between a ball, sandy gritty dirt, & the clubface can be really detrimental to a club. It doesn't take much for them to get that way if you're in that type of environment a lot.
My SM6 from a couple years ago looks like this. But that's from years of hitting out of bunkers with different sand consistency. So it can happen.

What kind of golf ball are you playing? Looks like it has been hit in a rocky area with all the marks.
  14. HI A,

Doesn't look great and I can appreciate you being upset with the condition of your irons, I would be saying to my pro (who I get my clubs from) WTF is going on here, that is not normal wear and tear.

I am sorry to have to say my AP3's which I have had for close to 2 years, over two hundred rounds plus practices sessions, and they are in mint condition compared to yours and I have been hitting them more out of the toe like yourself for the majority of the time I have had them. I think something is wrong with them and you should take them back to where you bought them so they can get exchanged and Titleist can have a look at them.
