I have not seen a wear difference between the all black, black and red, black and white, or black and grey versions of the Tour Velvet. I think they all wear fairly quickly which is the price you pay for a soft grip with plenty of feel. I used to see worse wear in mine due to bad hand placement on my part, when I would have the tip of the thumbs pushing right on the grip. Now that I grip with a longer left thumb placement and keep my right thumb off to the side, there is less friction and less wear. You can go with cord grips to lessen wear but will likely go through more gloves and maybe a few blisters. Lot's of options out there so hopefully you get what works best for you.
