I just received a set of new T100 irons (4 - P). I ordered them through Roger Dun, in Santa Ana, CA. I ordered them with AMT White S300 shafts, 1/2" over standard, 2 degrees up from standard, and MCC4 grips.
When I picked them up yesterday, I always have the length and lie angles checked. Occasionally a lie angle may be off 1/2 a degree. To my surprise, while they were all 1/2" over standard, the lie angles varied between 1 degree up to standard lie. What really surprised me was that 4 of the irons, the loft was 1 degree weak. The club repair at Roger Dunn (they were the ones that checked the specs), bent the clubs to the proper specs, and lofts.
I get home and unwrap them, and on 4 of the irons, there are "black dots" on the faces. Not really dots, but it appears there are areas where the coating used for the faces didn't go on properly, came off during shipping, or occurred when Roger Dunn bent them to the proper specs. Has anyone else encountered this with the coating on the club face? My concern is that these areas could "get bigger" over time, or rust (not that I intend to hit shots that far toward the toe). Should I be concerned about them wearing properly? I'm inclined to take them back to Roger Dunn, and have them get me another set.
Any feedback, or experience with this is welcomed.
Thanks!
