  1. I finally got my hands on an all time favourite... The 690 Mbs. The faces are in great condition and with a bit of polish and a lick of paint they are looking superb.

My question is with them being quite an old standard spec with very weak lofts and very flat (that suits me I am far from vertically blessed) does anyone have any experience with strengthening the lofts and if so what did you observe from the ball flight? Does it counteract any weighting or CG location?

  2. Are they the 690MB or the 690.MB (dot)?

In general, Titleist recommends +/- 2 max degrees of change from factory. This will also change the bounce. Increasing loft will also increase the bounce by the same. That would change the turf interaction. Try it on 1 club before doing the whole set.

If you straightening lofts even if they are forged you should respect the 2 degree limit for bending. From my personal experience, Stronger loft does lower the ball flight if you use the same shaft and same shaft length.
The ball flight from a 6 and 5 iron are in a similar window but 5 is going farther. The main reasons are that a 5i have les loft which increase distance and shaft length are 1/2 longer that is giving more speed which help to elevate the ball.
Hope this making sense for you.
    Best regards,
