At my home course-Asheville Muni, there are maybe 30% of us who walk the course versus people who ride the carts. If I'm carrying the bag as opposed to using a push cart, weight is really important. For those folks here that walk, what bag do you use and do you use a complete set of clubs? For myself, I have Driver, 5 wood, hybrid, 6, 8 & PW, plus a 54 degree Vokey. Putter is a Walter Haig Crenshaw to give my Scotty a break, ha ha.

    Thoughts?

  2. I use a D, 5w, 4i-PW (714 AP2), 50, 54, and a Spider GT Notchback flat stick. So 12 clubs. I use a Wilson Feather and a png Hoofer. Both comfortable for carrying. png has better straps and better weight distribution. Neither is waterproof.
  3. I walk with my trusty Titleist Carbon 4. Would love to be able to use something without legs but it’s too sloppy up here in MN to not use a stand bag. Lightest stand bag I’ve owned. Clubs can stick a bit but that’s what happens with a small bag and +4 midsize grips

Jason, I added "gator feet" to my Players 4 Carbon legs and that has helped prevent the legs from sinking into the soft muddy turf. You might check them out if you have the same problem. Other than that, I too have loved this back for walking.

I use a Carbon 4 for 12-14 clubs. There is a Sunday bag, but 6-8 clubs is max, limited number of balls, and no rain gear. I only use it for par 3 courses.
Have the front 9 fairways recovered from the flood 2 years back? I had a chance to play it a few months later but used a number of lift, clean, and replace reliefs. As a Donald Ross design I hope the maintenance can recover.
  6. At the end of last season I got tired of having to pack up my clic gear and midsize staff bag after every round. Made the switch to carrying the carbon. I’ve only got a few rounds under foot with this setup… but couldn’t be happier with the switch. Even with a full complement of 14 clubs there’s still plenty of room for all the essentials (couple of reserve sleeves, driver wrench, tees, rangefinder, gloves, cigars, air pods, phone and extra outer layer). TBH I think carrying is easier on the body than pushing. At least that’s what my back is telling me. Hardly even notice the bags there. And at the end of the round… no hassles wrestling the cart!

I walk when ever possible and I use a full set with at Players 4 Plus bag.
I carry 14 clubs, about a dozen golf balls, range finder, a glove I never use, some snacks, sun screen, my keys wallet phone, my regular shoes/slides go in the garment pocket. 32oz Insulated water bottle, an energy drink or Powerade.

If I want to go light, I'll take a Sunday Golf carry bag, Driver, 4i, 6i, 8i, 46, 54, 60. I putt with the 54. I've only done that maybe like three times.

I usually walk using my push cart. I have carried on occasion with my Ogio Grom (1st gen - its not light weight) with a partial set. I have come to the conclusion, that, if I want to carry, I will need a lighter bag - I bought a carry bag, but, I haven't used it yet - too wet, and, it is tbd, if I can handle bending down and picking the bag up off the ground.

If I were really going to walk and carry, I would get a lightweight stand bag like the Titleist Carbon bag, or, a 4+.

I have been walking the last few months. I am gaming the Hybrid 5 stand bag and using a Bat Caddy X4R. Much easier than carrying my bag.

I use the players 4 bags with all 14 clubs. I love the bag its light enough to carry but also as enough storage. Gets a little hot down here in Florida, but it is not that bad.
  11. My only bag is a Players 4+ bag with my full set (D, 3W, 5W, 4H, 5-P, 48, 54, 58, Putter). There was another thread about what else do you carry in your bag other than clubs. I carry the basics. The bag does what I need.
