  1. I have recently been fit for a full Titleist bag and the fitter suggested some new SM9 but I feel as if I hit my old wedges better(cally jaws). should I trust the fitter or play the old trusty rusty?

Certainly a personal choice but most of us here are bias towards Vokeys. Just look at how many tour players under contract with other club manufacturers still play Vokey. Factor in all the lofts, grinds, and finishes available and properly fit, you can't go wrong with Vokey wedges.

I have been doing Vokeys for 13 years now. Fortunately I was able to acquire the Wedgeworks 64W. They stopped making 64* wedges in production models after the SM4. I played a Callie PM Grind 64/10 for 3 years before getting the 64W.

Listen to your fitter, but it's your money. Play with what you like in your bag.

  6. I play the Miura LH wedges ( 56*/60*). Played Vokey wedges for years before that and would have said they are the best...but, after 2 seasons with the Miura wedges I would highly recommend them. Might be a little more expensive but worth every penny in my opinion. Good luck.

Grove wear on wedges definitely impacts spin. Titleist has data that serious golfers can see drop off after 75-100 rounds and should be replaced once the (gradual) wear drops spin. This is only applicable to players using tour grade urethane cover calls. 2 piece ionomer covered balls are hard to get enough spin to drop and stop.

How often or should you replace your current wedges is based on your game and other equipment. Vokey wedges having multiple grinds that can be individualized to one’s specific game is a reason in a fitting to choose them.
