    I had the pleasure in the summer of marshalling at the Scottish Seniors' Tournament at a local golf club - The Renaissance - close to my home in North Berwick, Scotland. All the volunteers were furnished with a Titleist Wind jacket, a really handy little back pack and a Titleist cap with the Renaissance badge on the side. It is always good to be given these items for the volunteering and everyone appreciates the gesture. With the risk of being ungrateful, can I please ask Titleist just how useful the cap was supposed to be?! Whilst it is a fine looking piece of clothing, the actual head covering part is made up of 6 segments and the front two where the name Titleist is on display is of a solid nature whilst the other 4 segments are made of a lightweight mesh. The cap may well be fine in places such as Florida or South Africa, but certainly not in our dubious Scottish Climate where the cap neither keeps the head warm or dry!!! Please could Titleist take this on board for any future tournament support? Thank you for the support and keep it up, guys, it is most appreciated.

    Graeme, that's awesome you got to volunteer for a tournament near where you live. I would love to volunteer at a tournament sometime.

    If you don't think the cap will stand up to the tough Scottish weather, send it to me and I will test it out in the equally extreme North Dakota weather.

    I am always up to challenges to see if titleist gear will hold up here.
    We currently have snow on the ground, high temperatures around -18 this weekend. Also the wind never stops blowing, doesn't matter what time of the year it is.

    If I don't feel it can stand up to the brutal weather North Dakota can serve up, I will send it someone in Florida or South Africa. Not sure I know anyone that lives there but I am sure I can find somebody.

    You should direct the feedback to the tournament committee. I volunteer at multiple events in WI and the quality of the supplied hats/jackets can vary dramatically. Unfortunately like our summer weather. The PGA Champions tour event near me got lucky this year. Last year it was in the 90's F and I was dubious when they issued a fairly dense jacket this year. But being in the upper 50's F this year - worked out fine.
    The 2 bucket hats are around $40 and the mesh hat is $30 as the suggested price. I have no idea on the discount arranged in contracting, but I doubt that even the mesh hats are free for the tournament.
    At least in the US, for events between Mid-May and September, I'd prefer something like the Aussie hat for sun protection. My shifts are usually 8 hours (longer than the contestants are on course) and I share fair skin with my Irish fore-bearers and there is isn't enough sunblock that helps. That hat never happens.

    Very ungrateful. The mesh hat is a summer hat.. buy yourself a warm one if your going to venture out in the cold / wet weather... unreal...

    I bet if you look into it that Titleist didn’t pick what items were given. Usually an event sponsor will select the items given out and then order them from Titleist or other suppliers.

    Question the tournament committee. They got what they ordered. I would have to bet Titleist just fulfilled their order.
