My first and only hole in one happened six years ago now, and with spring approaching, it is one of my favorite memories of golf season. I coach high school golf in Michigan, and after each practice I go play 9 with any players who are wanting to play more holes. During this season, it was mid April, which meant cold and cloudy in Michigan. I had six kids stay to play after practice, and my cousin, who is the golf pro at our home course, came out to talk while we waited to go off the back 9. The 10th hole is nothing fancy, it is a short 129 yards par 3, with a tiny green that releases anything below the middle of the green back onto the fringe of the front. I told the group of kids we were ready to go, and threw a ball down on the tee. I hit a knock down PW to try and flight it low and let it get towards the middle of the green and hopefully hold. When I saw the ball, I figured it was a decent shot, but most likely didn't land high enough to hold onto the green. The ball landed about 6 feet above the pin, then released back. The ball tracked for about 2 seconds before we all saw it roll into the hole. I couldn't believe it! The kids on my team were more excited about the shot than I was, I couldn't believe that it actually went in. Now the funny part of this is our home course I used to be a member at, and every summer I would play 100+ rounds, most starting at or before 6 am, and mostly as a single. I always thought about what would happen if it had happened when playing solo. No one is going to believe you, so I feel very fortunate that it happened with witnesses.
