A hole in one is special regardless the situation but my first ACE came in tournament play on the second and final round! I was battling all day but with 2 holes left I was down 3 and we came to the 17th 157 yard par 3. I was last to go in my group, saw the pin was below the slope and with heavy wind in our face, I just tried to carry the bunker and get it close. I used 9 iron and played it left side of the green, the small fade and wind helped carry the ball over the sand trap and hit the top of the slope… from there it cut back down the slope toward the pin.. at this point the group was yelling for it and I just stood there saying “one time! Cmon!” It kept creeping toward the pin and then …disappeared…. The group went wild, they tossed clubs, yelled and all ran toward me. I was in disbelief, it finally happened! It happened in the most clutch time possible! Not only was it my first ace, 2 days after my birthday but it brought me to the lead in the tournament! It capped out one wild weekend in Las Vegas and was the greatest birthday gift I could have gotten! AVX ball # 3 is my go to ball and number!!! A shot I’ll never forget! I play in GolfWeek Amateur Tour California and had a season long contest for $500 hole in one… 4 tournaments in I cashed out!!
