After 17 LONG years of awaiting golf glory, I achieved the holy grail of amateurs! I started golfing when I was 16 and I went out for my 33rd Birthday March 7 for a morning round. 33rd birthday, it was 33 degrees, it was 7:30am (3/7 my birthday backwards!). My mom was always my biggest fan before she passed away. Always rooting for me to beat my dad aka “The Beast.” So I stroll up to hole 2 at Springfield Golf in NJ. Shot the hole at 164. With it being 33 and cold and 2 swings into the round with a driver and wedge, I took an 8 iron. Teed the ball up a little higher than I normally do because of soggy weather. I RIPPED the shot high and it felt like butter coming off the club. Once I hit it I thought it was over, but it soared over the pin 2 yards
To the right and landed around 170 with some HEAVY backspin! The ball spun back and disappeared! I couldn’t believe it, my birthday, the trusty tiger 8, the golf gods have struck. But mostly my mom gave me one last gift! It was forever a hole to remember for me! The greatest game ever played!
