The shot was 31 years in the making.
Hole-in-one on Pecan Plantation Country Club’s par three No. 11. It was 140 yards over water, up hill and into a stiff wind. I teed my ProV low, and went up a club to the six. Absolutely crushed it. The shot was right on target with a slight draw. As it flew, my playing partner quipped, “that may be ‘too good.’”
Then CRACK. The familiar sound of a ball smacking the stick.
“Did that go in?” I asked. “There’s no ball on the green.”
“Yes!” Came the answer.
It was a pure dunk - nothing but the bottom of the cup. No scuffs on the dance floor.
In the end, it was my first hole-in-one, and my first eagle in 24 years. I also got a smooth $1,000 in pro shop credit to boot.
The shot took place on April 1. Though the irony of the date isn’t lost on me. I Just glad I had four witnesses.
