Playing at Spring Valley golf course in Elizabeth Colorado, group of 4 of us were enjoying the shots going downhill against various winds of hole number 17. Had trouble deciding to play my 7 or 8 and ended up going with the 8. Getting up to the tee, take my position, and give a hefty swing because the hole was reading 173 yards. Shot had to go over a creek and we all thought it landed short and slightly to the right. We get down to the hole and start looking. Found everyone else’s ball but mine. We all thought it was short and slightly to the right. Asked one of the others if I could borrow their extra ball and take a drop cause none of us could find it. He tossed me the ball and he finished his stroke. When he went to go pick up his ball, he yelled out (not as flavorful words here) “no way!” Looked back at him with his ball in hand and said that I made a hole in one. He was shocked as when he looked in the hole, he thought someone left their ball in the hole till he saw what he called the stupid image I put on my ball facing right at him. Absolutely blew all of our minds! First hole-in-one for me after 23 years worth of playing. Still in shock.
