I can’t believe it! I never thought it would happen.
I got a hole in one today
Par 3 Hole 7 at Heron Bay. 152 yards - 8 iron
I stood on the tee with the light flight failing. Dusk was drawing in.
I turned to Fred and said, “I’m going to draw an 8 iron in here for a hole in one”.
I hit the ball and just as described, it drew onto the front of the green and started rolling towards the flag. I lost view of the ball but Fred said “I saw it rolling and then it disappeared. I think it went in”.
I didn’t dare to believe it. I thought I would wait and see when I got down to the green.
Fred hit and landed just of the green. When we got to his ball there was a ball about three feet from the pin. “Fred” I exclaimed, “my ball
Is right there”. He hit and we walked to the green.
I marked my ball and picked it up to clean it. As I looked at the ball in disappointment I saw it was a Top Flite. I had hit a Titleist. So where was my ball?
Then the excitement began to rise again. I cautiously walked over to the hole and dared to peer in. There she was - staring back up at me.
Woohoo, Fred was right, it had rolled in and I had just made my first hole in one.
The joy was amazing. Statistically it is so unlikely to hit a hole in one but it happens often. I’m thankfully that that I am one of the lucky ones who has a story to tell.
