  1. Playing St Ives - Huntingdon Lovely conditions, sunny with a light breeze, playing with Mr Paul Abbott a club member not previously played with. Paul playing some lovely golf through the first 6 holes with me playing my usual double bogey golf across the first 6. We arrive at the 7th 168 yards from the yellow markers. Paul hits a shot that takes off but catches the breeze and floats towards the right bunker, an awful unlucky bounce sees his ball push further right and into the long rough. Knowing I’ve been hitting with a slight fade so far in the round I tee up way over on the left. Thinking about just getting it up to the front of the green and avoiding the bunkers I commit to a half backswing (golf pro Matt would be proud) and connect with the ball lovely. It starts off slightly left and starts to come back on line, falls nicely just before the fringe of the green and rolls onto the green, “tink” goes the flag, “oh it’s hit the flag and gone over the back I think” Paul who is stood on my right says “that’s gone in”. “No way it can’t have” I respond. Waking up I’ve never had such elation and weird nerves in my life. We get to the flag and the ball is nestled in the bottom. Paul wishes me massive congratulations and tells me in his 30 years of playing he has never had one or been in a game with one, he once saw a group ahead of him get one and he thanks me for being part of the moment. Im stunned absolutely stunned. Paul asks how long have you been playing, this is my second year. Needless to say the ball a titleist trufeel 2 and my club a titleist t300 6 iron should be retired and mounted in a glass case now I think.
