What a surreal night! I’m still in shock! In my Banker’s League golf game tonight at Valley View Golf Club, I was playing with my weekly matchup and another matchup pair.
On Hole 11, I pulled out my 8 iron (the set of irons I am borrowing from my dad). The scorecard said it was 145 yards, and the pin was in the back right corner of the green. Closer to 154 yards The sun was in my eyes as I hit my shot, and I lost it about halfway through its flight. I had commented on how I figured it was probably over the green, and there was a pause. One of the guys said, “I don’t want to get your hopes up, but I think that went in.” Another guy who normally plays but is recovering from an injury was hanging out and checking in on the groups. He drove up to the green, ran to the hole to check, and exclaimed that it went in! I was in total shock as my matchup had his hands in the air and gave me a huge bear hug! He was just as excited as I was! It was an incredible experience I never thought I’d hit, and the whole league was super excited as they each found out. There was a lot of hooting and hollering as I made my way back into the clubhouse. Those clubhouse beers were worth every penny, and it was the best tasting round I have ever had!
