I was playing in a VGA golf tournament at The Highlands Course at Grand Geneva in Wisconsin.
Hole number 12 is a 193 yard par 3 and we were hitting into a slight breeze, so I took out my 3 hybrid, because being a little long was a lot better than being short.
I teed off first and I hit it off the toe, but it carried the front left bunker and my foursome all said I should be good.
Then the rest of my group hit and we thought one of them went long, but should be easy enough to find.
There are two balls on the green, so I walked up to what I thought was mine, and saw it was actually the ball we thought went long.
So I start looking along the rough, and I can’t find it anywhere.
Then one of the guys that was on the green, but not the one we thought went long, said something along the line of “this might sound dumb, but did you check the hole?”
I said no, and with a lot of doubt, I walked to the pin, looked down, and there it was!
My first hole in one.
