I'm 79 years of age. I've been playing golf for over 60 years. I have a 15.2 index.
And I play golf on a regulation size golf course 5 days a week.
Currently playing at The Monarch Golf Club in Leesburg FL. (for the last 20 years)
I've had many "Close HIO calls" as you might imagine.
My wife (age 75) has five HIO.
Yesterday my wait was over.
A 125 yard 8 iron from the gold tee on the par 3 #11.
Hole #11 is a par 3 that is up hill some 15-20 feet so you can't see the bottom of the pin.
It's over a sand waste area that plays harder than a water hazard. Yes , it does ! !
It's because after hitting a ball in the water you go to a drop area or tee it up again. This sand hazard is decepive in that it lures you to think you can get up and out on one try. Oh, no no no! Can you say "Snow-man"
Anyway, my shot was pure and on target to a red pin. As I watched with amazement I
muttered, "Now that's in the hole! But you can't see the final result until you go there.
After the other players claimed their balls mine was missing. Excitedly, I walked over anticipating an empty hole. Holy Crap!! There she was, my Prov1x, blue dots and all, at the bottom of the hole. Yes I hollard, I finally did it. My grin was wide and my eyes were wet with emotion. I didn't think it would hit me that hard. My friends all signed my card (I wish I had recorded a better score) and told me to save the ball. I had a $300 bar bill and I played with it again today.
