My golf buddy Matt and I took a little road trip to Vermont for an EPIC 36 hole day that started off at Green Mountain National. Course was in great shape and we had a great time. We moved to Rutland CC for our afternoon round. On 2nd hole, I shanked my wedge, TWICE before marking down my double bogey. I even remember saying to Matt “I can’t believe I spent all this money to suck today”. So on we went to 3rd tee for the 119 yard par 3 with a slightly elevated green. Very cool rock outcropping on the left, and protected by two bunkers in the front. I took my stroke and instantly knew it was a good shot, which came down slightly left of the flag but looked to be DEAD on distance wise but with the front edge of the green slightly raised, it blocked view of the cup. I yelled to Matt "I think that’s f%&#ing in the cup" If I recall, yelled it a few times!. Matt hit his tee shot and ran back to the cart. We started driving, my heart was POUNDING - for some reason I just had a really strong feeling this was really it..... The 4th tee box is to the right of the 3rd green and is slightly surrounded by some shrubs. Matt told me to slow down due to the guys on the tee - I couldn’t, so I proceeded to jump out of the rolling cart and ran up to the green to find one ball on the green about 20 feet away and had to try to process in my brain that it had to be Matts ball not mine based on where it landed - then I yelled "I only see one ball Matt!!" ran to cup and boom - there it was...that beautiful Titleist 81 looking back up at me, such a cool moment to be lucky enough to experience but to be able to do it with my buddy was very cool. And Matt even drained his birdie putt! Certainly, a day I will never forget.
