It was a cold summer morning in Manchester UK, it was early in my golfing career and I was having an horrendous round of golf, the majority of holes being Double Bogeys and worse!
I walked up to the 17th Tee Box at Swinton Park Golf Club, with cold hands and a mindset full of disappointment. I took my 8 iron for 167 yards, with wind and tried to clear my mind. Swing Smooth, Smooth is Fast.
It seemed that mindset was quickly obliterated as I thinned my 8 iron, dropped my club in frustration and before watching where my ball went I walked to my bag in frustration.
I hear from a friend “Surely not, I think that’s just rolled in” not believing him we walked upto the green with no ball in sight, I walked over to cup and there it was a beautiful picture my ball nestled at the bottom. Unbelievable.
The sport I was on the verge of giving up on the tee box, enticed me back! I had it, nobody sees a video or has picture of how it happens, but being able to put a 1 on my card was an unbelievable moment no matter how good or bad that shot may of been, I have suffered the punishment of golf ever since chasing that high again.
It only takes 1 shot to make you fall in love with the sport again.
