I’ve been playing golf for over 25 years. I absolutely love the game. I always wondered if I even get to see a hole-in-one. On Monday, July 10 in Dracut Massachusetts at four Oaks country club. I was asked to fill-in in a tournament for the Middlesex county sheriffs association. Heavy rain was expected in a lot of people didn’t want to play, I gladly said I’ll play. As the round started, the heavy rains came, made for a tough golf day but we played through got some birdies, but not a special round for the foursome, we got to the 15th hole. It was a small par 3 at 120 yards but the pin was in the front, and it was reading 110. For me that usually a pitching wedge, but because of the weather, I decided to go with a nine iron. And when I hit it, it was on a straight line right for the pen I could hear people commenting in the background what a line, it landed 2 feet past cup, and then back spin into the hole.
Wasn’t sure what we had just seen we all started running for the whole people were falling down because of the rain yelling and screaming all the time. Then when we get back to the tournament banquet for the dinner, the news traveled, and as custom when you get a hole-in-one, you have to buy the clubhouse a drink so needless to say I had to open the bar for the entire tournament for around, which I’d gladly do again. After the photos and the standing ovations, it was quite a night. In the tournament I wasn’t even supposed to be in the tournament, very unassuming rainy day. Turned out to be my Best golf experience in 25 years playing the game I love.
