Our home course is fairly unique in that the 18th is a par 3. It plays long and the green is slightly elevated. To make matters worse, you are tired (at my age!) from walking a very hilly course all day.
Luckily, it was a front pin and I felt I could get there with an iron. Hit an AVX pretty pure and just slightly to the right. It kicked off the inside of a green side mound and rolled gently onto the green. That’s the last we saw of it since you can’t see the hole from the tee. The green is bowl-shaped so we thought it would settle nicely and be good. None of my playing partners hit the green so when we got closer and saw nothing on the green, the inevitable saying “check the hole” was uttered. I did and much to my surprise there was the Titleist logo staring back at me!! Your heart skips a beat.
Since it was early afternoon and the bar in the Grill Room was not that crowded yet, it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg to celebrate .
I believe the extra yards I get out of an AVX made all the difference. Thank you Titleist!!
