  1. Picture it. Dark grey overcast day with a blustery wind. A day the course was getting the best of the boys. But near the end of the round, your hero steps up to the tee with a look of dejection but not despair. He sizes up the situation and picks his weapon. A Titleist 718 AP2 7-iron he had picked out of a used club bin at a local golf shop 4 years earlier. He gripped the well-worn grip, looked at the target and unleashed a disjointed swing that appeared as though the golfer was trying to swat a fly rather than create a halfway decent swing. The balled sailed right as had been the case for most of the day. But this time, by sheer luck, the balled started drifting back to the left. That in itself was a miracle. As the ball approached the green thoughts of grandeur began to creep into the player’s mind but were quickly cast away as poppycock. But the ball continued its path to glory. One bounce. Two bounces. A short roll and quick turn to the left and the ball disappeared. Could it be? He looks to his playing partners and sees the slack jawed expression on their faces, and he knew. It had happened. They raced to the green to have a look in the hole to see the evidence of the accomplishment. A white, scuffed, muddy ball sitting gently at the bottom of the cup. Welcome to the hole-in-one club, Mr. Martinez.
