Every golfer dreams of the perfect shot—the one that finds the bottom of the cup in a single swing. For me, that moment came on hole 14 at Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden, Colorado, during our annual guys’ golf trip.
With a storm rolling in, a light drizzle falling, and the wind in my face, I stepped up to the 202-yard par 3, gripping my png 21-degree hybrid. The conditions weren’t ideal, but my focus was sharp. I teed up my Titleist ProV1X, took a deep breath, and let it fly.
The ball cut through the mist, tracking towards the flag located on the back 8-foot tier separating the front and back of the green. Unable to see the cup from the green it appeared the shot would be close. As we approached the green the ball was nowhere to be seen. As we walked up to the hole there it was, at the bottom of the cup. Then chaos. My first hole-in-one.
