During a breathtaking vacation in Hawaii—with my husband, my son and his wife, and my daughter with her boyfriend—we each set out on our own mini adventures. As we reached the eighth hole, an 85-yard uphill challenge from the red tee, I retrieved my beloved Titleist and short hybrid club. Although I suspected it might have overshot and rolled toward the back bunker, my husband was convinced that, against all odds, the ball had nestled perfectly in the cup. We sped our cart over to the green, only to find no sign of the ball. Instinctively, I grabbed my putter and sand wedge and walked toward the hole. Moments later, my husband arrived first on the green. Rushing over to inspect the cup, he discovered my ball sitting there, and his joyous shouts and exuberant jumping sparked cheers from adjacent tee boxes—a moment of pure, unexpected magic! Naturally, I couldn’t wait to share this fleeting triumph with our family of golfers. But before I could utter a word, my daughter revealed astonishing news: her boyfriend had proposed to her during their hike along the Road to Hana. Overjoyed for them, I deliberately held off celebrating my hole-in-one until the next day, wanting their once-in-a-lifetime moment to shine. That day became a symphony of serendipity—a first hole-in-one celebrated amidst a day of love and unexpected milestones, making our Hawaiian vacation more unforgettable than I ever could have imagined.
